I'm still left at a text screen logon. My linux background is pretty minimal. I took an image backup before I did anything. Installing the package ubuntu-desktop sets everything up (but I think it complicates things). Looks like I can't really fix it unless I reinstall. If I'm going to do that I wont be reinstalling Peppermint 7 Since I had the old system backed up I installed Ubuntu 18.04.6 (clean) then 20.04.6(upgrade) just to see see what they were like. Interesting but I won't stick with it

Hello - my desktop environment is partially damaged. I'm interested in reinstalling the default desktop (including plymouth and all the configuration). I'm also open to an alternate desktop suggestions. It wasn't obvious to me how to fix the default desktop, I though they'd be a package called peppermint-desktop but there wasn't (like ubuntu-desktop) I tried apt install --reinstall xfce4 but this did not fix the underlying config issues including plymouth and the spalsh screen. Hello - thanks for responding guys. I set it up as below, did this as a sort of proof of concept. Seems like the custom commands, eg. audio=0;subtitle=64 can be very powerful. What else can I do in that box? Is there any basic document or forum post that has a guideline on these commands and where/what kind of menu (VMGM vs, titleset etc.) they can be used https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/418789-I-m-looking-for-a-DVD-Authoring-Tool-that-can-do-certain-things#post2780447 Thanks

Hello - I'm wondering about the case where the movie has two audios and/or two subtitles that I want to include. Is it possible to select them from the menu before playing the movie? Thanks

I've read some of the old posts, but I'm unable to identify a clear answer to this question. With settings at default, it's clearly bad - see the frame blends in the right pane when it shoud be clearly two different moments in time https://i.postimg.cc/MTrYV8MV/poor1.jpg I'm enclosing a good version created in AVStoDVD https://i.postimg.cc/mgzhgWRK/good1.jpg

Thanks for all the suggestions, I ended up using the Ubuntu boot repair disk https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair I was able to recreate grub on the second HDD. It worked well, even added the menu item I had for booting Windows XP directly.
