Hi A friend asked if I could recommend a Linux distro and having used Peppermint for a while I downloaded the loaded edition. Before passing it on to him I read though some of the announcement details and description. I noticed that during installation a wait may be incurred do to updates, which I assumed would be due to downloading these. Running the live installation media I checked the update list and found that there were 660MB of updates. The reason I downloaded for him was that he has a very...

[SOLVED ] In that I now know the problem is with the printer database Hi During 2023 I had to give up on PeppermintOS as I could not get either of my printers to work. So I tried three other Debian based Distributions and Mint all of which had no problem and did not require any further downloads. In Distrowatch last week I noticed that there was a new PeppermintOS "Loaded" and thought I would try again. Unfortunately there was a similar problem in that my Epson printers were identified as being present,...

Hi Just installed Peppermint again after a break because of video card failure. With the exception of being able to print all is working fine. I have tried 5 "yes five" other Debian based distros on this system to see if there was a hardware problem but all allowed me to print. It may be that the printer is connected via a parallel (centonics) interface or lack of operator knowledge. The printer is an Epson EPL 5700 laser any advice please Thanks john
