just plan it is production scheduling for high-mix low-volume make-to-order shops. From working with hundreds of shops, we figured out why some of them succeed. Although successfully running an ERP system, CIOvita's production scheduling always happened with homegrown Excel spreadsheets. This approach did not scale with the company's growth. Consequences were: lack of transparency, and hence loss of agility. Constant change and fire-fighting became the norm. Before using just plan it, Loynds relied on spreadsheets, paper lists and “lots of head scratching in order to calculate delivery times and ensure our engineering team had up-to-date work lists” as Richard Loynds, Managing Director at Loynds, remembers. The challenge was the missing transparency on what was actually happening on the shop-floor combined with rapidly changing processes. This missing transparency led to a constant miss of delivery dates, which put customer relations on risk.
