It's probably the best program for syncronization. I've used v. 5.23. Now I started v. 6.0. Guys, stop, please. 5.23 looks crystally clear to understand. Interface of 6.0 is hard to understand, so, hard to use. I was forced to come back to 5.23.

I got a similar app from PC Magazine a few years ago. I never really figured out how to use it. I tried to start it up and it would not load for reasons unknown. I googled just in case I might stumble across.....THIS! It did precisely what I wanted to do. I figured out how to operate it pretty darned quick, which is a testament as I'm gettin' old and am not as fast on the uptake as I once was.

I read about the TimeStamp problem and maybe have a tip. I wrote a similar program (in VB) some years ago and solved this issue as follows. If the copy went OK, I checked the FileModifyTimes after copying. If the stamps were still different, I separately copied the TimeStamp from source to target and voilà: the files are identical again, ready for the next sync operation. I made this feature optional because it writes the obsolete format in the copied file. You could also consider copying the timestamp the other way, thus correcting the original format in the source file. Although this approach does have advantages, I never tried it because I didn't want to tamper with the originals.

I am currently testing this application, although i do not see what the problem is with the created date. NTFS does not seem to give any problems. And who uses FAT32 / 16 these days ? Well the created dates are absolutely fine in my case ... I rate it 4 because there still could be some improvement. For a free software and the hardwork put on this so far ... Its a great app !

I am having trouble with the latest version whereby it overwrites existing identical files even though the flag is off. Wrote to the authors - no answer.

Excellent utility for synchronizing two hard drives and/or important directories! Easy to use and fairly intuitive. Short learning curve. For the reviewer looking for "Help" resources, it is right there on the top left of the screen next to the Tools tab. Program is fairly documented in the "Content" selection.

Works good. The only thing missing is the ability to preserve time stamps. We need to keep over 900,000 documents sync'd between two servers and be able to preserve the time stamps of the files/directories they reside in but I can't find a way to do it with this software? The other apps out there like DirSync Pro allow this capability... Why not this one?

Fast operation, nice GUI. The only thing that's missing is a way to save the settings which files and folders in a (potentially huge) folder tree should be synced and the ability to re-use that information in a RealSync (real-time synchronisation) between folder trees. Thanks for the tool and keep up the good work!

FFS doesn't recognize my Samsung Galaxy Note sdcard folders, the phone is USB connected to the PC, anyone can help? Thank you in advance.

It is ideal application for synchronize my files between two computers and one file server. I was testing before few other solutions, but FreeFileSync is the best from the best!! Thank you for this project! Best regards.

What a simple yet incredibly helpful and powerful program! User interface is flexible enough to house lots of things or to be very simple and sleek - and it performs binary comparisons! Cheers for a job well done!

Great program. Can someone please explain how I can remove some of the items that are listed when I click on "Browse" in order to compare/sync directories/files? Am using this with Linux Mint 13, and Win7.Thank you.

Thank you for this awesome sync software. I tried a lot - free as well as pricey alternatives, but when I finally found this I knew my search had come to an end :)! It has an easy and intuitive UI and all the features you would want from a sync tool! Funny how free stuff beats the commercial versions again and again...
