Curve Ensemble is a free C++ open-source project for fitting, editing, and painting curves. The primary focus is on minimal energy curves, and our implimentation includes (Restricted) Elastic Splines as well as several methods related to parametric cubic splines. For each minimal energy curve method the following features are available:
* Robust algorithm to find minimal energy interpolating curve.
* Flexible node specifications (regular, clamped, free, data ball).
* Multiple curves on the same canvas.
* Transformation tools (translate, rotate, scale).
* Elaborate painting capabilities.
There are also other useful methods implemented, like Lines, Circles and DataBalls,
and tools for subdivision and shortest/smoothest path through data balls.
Usage is now fully documented in a 27-page manual, Curve_Ensemble_manual.pdf.

Features

  • On-the-fly optimization of curves
  • Shortest path through data balls
  • Smoothest curve through data balls
  • Subdivision tools

User Reviews

  • A fantastic tool. It does very nice and interesting things for which I was looking for since long time. The program is small and easy to use intuitively and the manual is an absolutely great work by itself. I will try it out more in detail over the time to compare the provided types of curves with results of my own still ongoing code developments for (genereral) elastic splines (rectangular Elastica Splines, other Euler-type-Splines with additional tension forces and to compare them for example also with Euler-Spiral-Splines (clothoid-splines)) and for mathematical correct sketches of Elastic Splines. The installation under Windows 10 and under Opensuse leap 15.1 worked without any problem. Thanks a lot for your providing this helpful tool as Open Source.
