We've enabled SF hosted phpBB forum for Stigma project as a response to request for English based forum. During next few days/weeks forum will be tweaked and filled with informations etc, but it is available for all of you who wants to give as some suggestions/questions/something :)
0.4.0 version is still underway - there is 'slight' delay due to my computer's crash. I hope packages will be uploaded to SF before end of next week.
Once again thanks for your support and maybe see you on the forum :)
(forum direct link: http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/stigma/)
It will include support for items that player can pick up and equip (with no real influence on gameplay, yet).
Also the user interface is being ported from our original widget system to swing with synth-based look and feel.
Due to some finals on our alma mater project was in little hiatus for quite some time. But now it will (I hope) be developed more smoothly :) Some of our developers still have theirs MSc exams ahead of them, so it won't be very smooth. Still, I hope, next version will be done in next few weeks.
I would like to thank for first positive reviews of our project: they're really a motivation boost ;) and fabridamazio - as soon as we have something to translate we'll remember about your proposition :) Of course we would be pleased with any help, specially we're looking for graphic designer (as all game developers) and graphic programmer (currently we'll have only one, and there's far too much to do).... read more
New rendering engine on client with new tile/terrain model - much better client appearance. Also path finding was improved and some useful buttons added.
Server gained many new features including i18n and 'archetype model' for NPCs/players.
More informations available in changelogs.
New version available for download!
Many "user-friendly" changes on client: "click & go" with path-finding added.
On server: NPCs with simple AI added.
More informations in ChangeLogs of updated packages.
Bugfix release. Most changes in client - it should be more stable now. See changelogs for details.
New GUI on client - should be easier to use.
Images finally included in resources in release packages (that was a BUG...) now you can 'enjoy' some basic graphics in Stigma.
Server got some 'quick start' instruction.
So download and test :) More things should work ;)
Patched some issues, mostly boosting client performance. See change logs for details.
Future releases also will be "patches", mostly changing client ergonomic etc.
Finally - client loads some images, maps are bigger, and it all starts to look like a game.
Server gained ability to work standalone, so now it's really easy to run and test Stigma.
We hope to generate another release in week maybe two, with more playable features.
Finally - release of both client and server and it is 'playable' ;) (Player can... WALK on maps! whoa!). Users can test communication client-server and some 'core' mechanisms, like Stigma own 2D engine (based on Swing), server 'pseudo-turns' etc.
Finally - Stigma is uploaded to SF.net. Now we need to clean thing up, work hard for few weeks, and maybe we prepare some realise :)
