new for version 0.6.0
"Get from Amazon"!!!!
Simply point your browser to the book summary page of the
book in question. Then all you have to do is click "Get from
Amazon", and MLAGEN will automatically do the rest.
Tech info:
MLAGEN will connect to your running instance of IE, grab the
URL of the page you are currently viewing, retrieve the entire
source code for that page, and with VBScript RegEx for
Delphi, parse that text to output the First and Last Names,
Title, Publisher, and Year of Publication.
Just fire up Microsoft Word, Generate a works cited entry, then click "Copy to word processor", and Voil! Switch back to Word, and you'll see your beautifully formatted entry, underlined/italicized if necessary!
Note: If the works cited entry is longer than one line, MLA format says that each subsequent line should be indented to easier discern between entries.
I finally got Internet components to work from ICS by Francois Piette! Thus, MLA Auto-Generator now brings to you Online Updating and "Get Info From Browser" for added convenience!
Online Update can be accessed by clicking the About button, then the Online Update button.
"Get Info From Browser" is a function for the entry of information from websites. Simply select "Website" as the type of source, then click the "Get Info From Browser" button in the middle of the screen. MLAGEN will parse the Title, URL, Last Modified Date, and Accessed Date for you!... read more
I added a tool that looks to be useful in ensuring that users always have the latest version of MLA Auto-Generator with the most functionality.
To access Online Update in v0.4.9, run MLAGEN, click the About button in the top right, then click Online Update. The program will then compare your current version with the version contained on the SourceForge servers. If your file is outdated, the program will ask if you want to download the new file.... read more
The ability to search for a book on Amazon or the Library of Congress, copy the URL, and have MLA Auto-Generator completely fill out all the needed input boxes and generate a works cited entry.
A few bug fixes, and some nice new updates.
-The first 3 sections are entirely complete!
-22 types of sources supported!
-Added several types of sources
-Made the framework for the future
-Added limited ToolTip Hints
-Added Panels to most of the functional sources.. minor
appearance tweaks
Version 0.4.5 is out with huge code optimizations as well as a more intuitive, categorized list of sources to choose from.
In other news, now every single version of MLAGEN is available. I went through the trouble of re-compiling each and every version and beta and naming them with their respective versions so that SourceForge could differentiate them when it came time to download.
So now the old versions are available!
There are several code enhancements that not only make it easier for me to continue development but also reduce the size of the already-small program, so all of you can shave off milliseconds in downloading it.
Upon inclusion and completion of the coding for all 32+ types, MLA Auto-Generator will be THE most comprehensive source of works cited formatting on the web! And that's in addition to its standing as cheapest MLA service on the Net!!
There are now 32 types of sources which will be supported some time in the near future. As of now, about 7 work, but by next release, look for that number to be at least 20.
-fixed tab order in "Part of Collection"
-new "Newspaper" section
-touched-up panel displays
-revised "List of Entries" display and sorting style[entries listed
now are correctly alphabetized with regards to MLA format
and more informative text about the entry is shown in the
listbox]
-editbox now must be visible and enabled to count in the
warning process
-buttons of features that are not yet implemented are now disabled
-enhanced 'Page[s]' display algorithm[now if only one page is
referenced, the program outputs it correctly]
I still cannot manage to get word processor direct-export
working. I had MS Word direct export working through COM
Automation, but I completely lost my old version 0.4.0b4, so I
had to code all the updates from scratch again.
This is a rather large update.
-Warning messages if critical inputboxes are blank
-Fixed website section inputboxes
-semi-intelligent URL format verification[checks for 'http://',
inserts it if it's not there, and puts it in the right position if
somebody does something like www.http://sourceforge.net]
-added encyclopedia section
-minor enhancements to right side "List of Entries"... read more
http://mlagen.sourceforge.net is now fully operational! Be sure to check out the screenshot and comparison pages, and don't forget to donate!!
The new 0.4.0b1 release contains the foundation for the true destiny of MLAGEN: entry editor and complete works cited page generation.
Please, take a look at the source code and comment on how to improve the program!
The brilliant future, in sight from the present..
-incorporation of the Library of Congress and/or other online
databases to verify book title and author, suggest
corrections, etc
-optional URL-checking+copy current URL to input field
-output results directly to word processor
-support for user-created templates for add'l sources
-complete works cited page generation
-print entire works cited page from program
-verification system to check user-created/inputed works
cited entries

Added holy code to conform with the US patriotic regulations.
MLA Auto-Generator: 100% terrorist-free at last!
Much thanks to SourceForge for hosting my project!!
Everyone stay tuned; a lot is to come in the next week or so.
