CamDesk is a free, open source, desktop webcam widget, that was created as home surveillance application. Although others have used it for demonstrations even with CamStudio, and QuickTime Player for screen casting.

TaniDVR is a CLI tool for managing and capturing video from Linux-based OEM surveillance DVRs which use DVR-IP protocol (p: 37777/TCP). It has been tested with Intelbras DVRs and is expected to work with brands such as DVR365, Q-See, GWave and other.

dvd-homevideo is a project that I developed because take quite a bit of home video and I was looking for a simple, quick way to transform the video on my dv camcorder into a fully functional DVD including a menu with optional background image and music.

VideoTools is software for video surveillance that can record, analyse and replay images from webcams and network cameras. It can use direcly-attached webcams or network cameras that provide JPEG or H.264 video streams over HTTP or RTP. VideoTools runs on Linux and BSD Unix.

This is a simple but powerful bash script to create stop motion and time-lapse videos from an Internet URL or an attached video device (see examples). Simply point it at an image source, set the capture frequency, and starting recording stillframes. You can view your stillframes as a video, or convert to a true video format at any point. Bad frames can be browsed/removed with the operating system file browser.
