XMLStarlet is a set of command line utilities (tools) to transform, query, validate, and edit XML documents and files using simple set of shell commands in similar way it is done for text files with UNIX grep, sed, awk, diff, patch, join, etc utilities.

mgrep is a command line tool that allows users to search text files for lines matching a given regular expression. It is similar to the well-known Unix utility, grep. As a natural extension to the single-line regular expressions, mgrep is also capable of searching for multiline patterns. mgrep is not a grep replacement, but it is intended to be grep-compatible: implemented options and behavior should be the same as those of grep. mgrep is written in C++ using the Boost.Regex library. A configure/make system is provided for Linux, but its source code should compile on all platforms that have the std and Boost.Regex libraries installed.

CRGREP searches for matching text in databases, various document formats, archives and other difficult to access resources. A command line tool for name and content text matching in database tables, plain files, MS Office documents, PDF, archives, MP3 audio, image meta-data, scanned documents, maven dependencies and web resources. Picnix is a set of Unix-like commands for Windows. It has: cat, chmod, cp, df, diff, du, fgrep, grep, head, ls, more, mv, psort, rm, sleep, strings, tail, tee, touch, uniq, wc, which, and pmake, which is largely compatible with Gnu make, and faster.

Visual pattern matching with regular expression search tool

SURF FIND is a simple and fast grep-like text search software, which keeps the previous search results as separate tabs. It also implements file caching mechanism so that the subsequent searches for the same set of files will be completed faster. Each tab has the list of found files and lines on the left, and the text viewer on the right to show the selected line on the list. On the text viewer, user can select a new keyword and start a new search instantly. On the list view, external editor can be invoked by double clicks. Also, the found files can be drag & dropped to other window. This project is a clone of TabTextFinder (http://sourceforge.jp/projects/tabtextfinder/simple/) dedicated to Japanese character sets with automatic encoding detection. This clone omits the automatic encoding detection and uses the default encoding by default.

Shell.NET is a set of console and winform applications written in C#. It features nearly 100 applications ranging from classical Unix applications like basename, cal, grep, tr, uniq, and wc, to some very unique tools like RunScript or TextTransform.
