4.2 broken compilation

Build 4.2 seems unable to compile, at least on
Slackware 8.1. I believe a large portion of it is
automake/autoconf related. The first problem was the
lack of the "depcomp" file, but a quick automake -a
fixed that. Then it wouldn't compile at all, spitting
out some crap about not being able to make
"config.status" as specified in Makefile. I dunno what
the deal is, 4.1 compiles fine, so whatever changes you
made between versions is likely it.

Hello, I've seen that the files COPYING, install-sh,
missing and mkinstalldirs are symbolic links to
/usr/share/automake/* in your package. I recommed you
to include these four files in the package and not to
use symlinks. It happens that those files are not in
the same place for each system, for example, they can
be in /usr/local/automake (FreeBSD and OpenBSD) or in
/usr/pkg/automake (like in NetBSD). Thanks.

hi, i have just tried whitebox 4.2 and on 6 different
systems. I get the following error message after the first
run:

Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtkbin.c: line 217 (gtk_bin_add)
assertation `bin->child == NULL` failed.

The first run was fine on all systems but once you quit
and try to run again, you get this. I have tried re-install
gtk but there is no change.

this is on RedHat 7.3 from rpm and source running 2.4.17
and 2.4.18 kernels (one is smp)
