&lt;p&gt;(Instead of the PHP based format)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The formatter should accept both unix time stamp values, and &lt;br /&gt;
strings representing a date: "YYYYMMDDHHMMSS"&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The formatter should work with dates outside the time range of the &lt;br /&gt;
