I quite like this idea. Icons would be a bit tricky though since
they would potentially cover other areas of the mini-map.
It wouldn't be hard to mark shops (e.g. with a distinct
colour). Problem might be the number of different kinds of
shop being more than the number of distinctive colours.....
Other things that might warrant marking:
- Temples
- Inns
- Quest Locations
