src packaged wrong; configure fails without automake 1.10

Hi,
On a distro with an up-to-date automake, configure fails like this:

configure: error: cannot run /bin/sh ./config.sub

This would mean that it would also fail if automake was not installed.
From what I've heard, to fix this the source tarball "should be made with `make dist` instead of just taring up the svn checkout."
