$mySqlServer = 'localhost';&lt;br /&gt;
Will select all the non whitespace touching localhost, in this case "'localhost';" instead of the preferred "localhost".&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Also, normally you can select multiple lines and hit tab and they all get indented, but once things start acting goofy, hitting tab will only indent the line the cursor is instead of the other selected lines as well.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Not 100% sure if this is a QT or NPP problem, but the problem only appeared once I started using QT.&lt;/p&gt;
