Creating new logon submits twice(?) causes error

IE6.0 on Windows ME
Sometimes I hear a kind of 'double click' when I submit
a form. Normally this doesn't seem to matter, but if this
happens when I am creating a new user account, I get
an error mesage saying 'username (whatever) is taken'.
MKS sends the logon details though, and the account
created is valid.

It seems to submit twice and I don't know why - when I
have my virus checker (Mc Afee Virus Shield) switched
on 'System Scan' this seems to happen more often
