Maybe rather than having "output profile name" as a text entry widget it should just be a normal save dialog invoked by clicking "create profile".

"Create Profile" does more than save a file since it actually launches the code that processes the measurement data into a profile which is then saved to the file "Output Profile File". Changing this would involve a fairly significant change to the work flow since it would require separating profile creation process from profile naming/saving. From having used them I know that the GretagMacbeth tools work this way. But I am not sure if this is better or not.

Also I have changed the way the profile file name is specified by moving the Output Profile File widgets to the Profile ID dialog. This is now checked in that dialog to make sure that the profile name is valid and has a valid extension and is in a directory where the user has write access and that that directory exists. This also forces the user to visit the Profile ID dialog as part of the work flow thous insuring that the user has had a chance to also update the profile description. I need to add error checking to this to make sure that the user is changed the description to something other than the system default setting and issue a warning if they have not done this.
Right now I consider this change experimental but if testing show that this is an improvement then I will close this tracker item.
