They are both beta versions.

LNSK soon to enter beta status

Despite the fact that all of the planned features are not yet implemented, I plan on changing the development status from alpha to beta soon for both lnsk and lnsk.firewall4. All of the important features are currently implemented and I just switched over to a "real" installation method. I have been running the current version (20020818-0) for a while and it seems to work flawlessly for me.

I will still be adding new features to both of these packages, so there might be some more bugs to come, just hopefully they won't change the expected operation of the program too drasticaly.

Both beta and stable versions will have a "standard" version name, like x.y.z. I will be following a similar release style to the Linux kernel - beta versions have an odd number for "y", and stable versions will have an even number for "y". You should consider the stable versions more stable than the beta versions, which are more stable than the development versions. Development (alpha) versions will still be named by the date they were released.

Important upgrade available

I just released version 20020818-0 of lnsk and lnsk.firewall4. Both of these include minor bug fixes and added features, but most importantly is the correction of a large bug in the firewall4 module.

Older versions, specificaly 20020810-0, do not correctly identify the interface and subnet that you specify in the config file. This should not affect users that have only a single interface in their computer, but upgrading is still recommended.

Make sure you get this version!!!

Major change in code

There has been a major change in the way LNSK works. It is now completely modular. New modules can easily be made and added to a directory. Feel free to make any modules you wish for it!

You will need the base package "lnsk" to run any of the other modules, so download it first.

Linux Network Solution Kit - First Release

After working on the project for about a week total, I finally felt like I could release a mostly working version. I included a README file that goes into a little bit of detail about what is working and how to use it. I am new to this whole SourceForge thing, so things might be a little shaky at first. On top of that, this is the first Linux project I have ever released. You guys might have to deal with me as I learn how to handle this stuff.

I am planning on the versioning system to be in the form [year][month][day]-[release_of_day] just in case you were wondering.
