It uses normal HTTP authentication and should therefore be much simpler to implement (while also being more safe for future changes to Gmail). I know that the "search for" setting might probably be a show stopper, but how many people really use it? If you ask Google nicely, they might be able to implement such a feature in the feed, too. I can see in the code that you're using the "older version" interface (ui=1) for checking mail, and that interface will probably not be along forever...

I used KGmailNotifier for a few days (since KCheckGmail was broken, I've fixed it now, see the Patches section) but realized that it sucks compared to KCheckGmail since it doesn't show the number of new mails in the icon. However, it continued to work when KCheckGmail (and checkgmail) didn't. That's quite bad when it comes to binary packages in distros like Ubuntu...

No more unread messages notification

I have an asus laptop with a mail LED which is conveniently accessible using "echo 1 > /proc/acpi/asus/mled" to turn it on and "echo 0 > /proc/acpi/asus/mled" to turn it off. I would like to turn it on when there are unread messages, and off at other times.

I can partially achieve this by assigning the first command to be run by the notification "New GMail arrived", however the LED cannot be turned off again. What is needed is a new notification, "No more unread messages", which would be triggered when the number of unread mails decreases from a number greater than 0 to 0.

I believe it would be fairly simple to implement, and would make using LEDs (or other alert mechanisms) possible.

First of all I would like thank the people involved
with this nice little program. It has vastly reduced
the workload of my laptop by allowing me to avoid running
browser all the time.

I would like to make a feature request for kcheckgmail. As kcheckgmail already provides Thread and email snippets
for new mail. It would be great if kcheckgmail triggers
a pop-op (optionally sound trigger) either giving "Subject" and/or "email Snippet" when the mail comes from
"Google Calender" with "Reminder" in subject. It will
really help to eliminate my need for running a Kontact
reminder deamon.

As a test, I could get it working (with few lines of code) simply by replacing new mail notification with
mail subject when above conditions are met. Though it
is bit ugly now (in code). It will be great if this feature is included rather systematically.

Then it should be possible for a general email to
trigger a reminder pop-up when user specified conditions are met (Like subject, senders contains such and such...then display subject and/or snippet etc..)

Thanks,
