Freevo is a Linux application that turns a PC with a TV capture card and/or TV-out into a standalone multimedia jukebox/VCR/PVR/HTPC. It uses MPlayer or Xine to play and record audio and video. It is optimized for use with a TV+remote.

Freevo version 1.7.7 and version 1.8.0 have been released.

For release 1.7.7 you can still use the existing kaa modules that are available on SourceForge.

For release 1.8.0 you will need kaa.base-0.4.0 or higher plus the latest kaa releases of metadata and imlib2. Until kaa.base-0.4.0 has been released you will need the current revision from the subversion repository.

Freevo version 1.7.6 and 1.8.0rc2 have been released.

For release 1.7.6 you can still use the existing kaa modules that are available on SourceForge.

For release 1.8.0 you will need the very latest kaa packages, yet to be released or the latest SVN version.

Additions to local_conf include:
ENCODINGSERVER_SAVE_DIR for re-encoded DVDs
TV_CHANNELS_COMPARE as a lambda to sort the channels

The ENCODINGSERVER settings have been removed

No variable have been renamed, this time ;-)

Freevo version 1.7.4 has been released.

This release contains some new (Afrikaans and Romanian) and updated translations. DVB streamer, new web configuration tool, audio and video podcast plug-ins just scratch the surface of what is new in this release. So if you get bored of just watching TV and videos, listening to music or looking at pictures these is still plenty for everyone.

Freevo version 1.7.2 has been released. Freevo is a Linux application that turns a PC with a TV capture card and/or TV-out into a standalone multimedia jukebox/VCR/PVR/HTPC. It uses MPlayer or Xine to play and record audio and video. It is optimized for use with a TV+remote.

This release contains mainly bug fixes and one nice addition for the WAF (wife acceptance factor), a reminder plug-in so you don't forget that anniversary or to record their favourite program :)
