I use 2.5.9-2 on a scientific linux 3 system and notice
that after creating a new category the category doesn't
appear when I choose 'New' from the main page (e.g.
https://www.hep.ucl.ac.uk/elog//My_Name\). However, if I
click one of the pre-existing messages and then choose
'New' the added category does show up. I notice that
the browser thinks that the 'New' link, as seen when
viewing a pre-existing message, is actually new (i.e.
hasn't been clicked on).

Also, after adding a new category I've had some
difficulty editing associated message. When I click
edit the old message isn't displayed. This situation is
sufficiently murky that I can't say much more.
Certainly, after leaving the elog alone for a couple of
days I could edit one of my 'category creating'
messages when I logged back in.

Bad WIDTH tag on New entry

Using Firefox (Linux and Windows tested) when using the
"ELCode" view, the "New" entry page sets the width of
eld_image.png to 500 so it takes up most of the screen.

This happens using Linux source code or the windows binary.

This is caused by a line of code in elogd.c for
upload.html which includes the text "width=500".

On my Linux system:
This is at line 10098 in version 2.6.0-beta4 os elogd.c.

I commented out the entire line, compiled and
reinstalled, page then rendered normally.

Time formats

I'm experimenting with elog to see if I want to apply it to
a production environment. Examing the use of the date
format specifier, I noted the discrepancies listed below.
While these are not critical, they are disconcerting:

%A returns "Sunday" while today is Saturday
%Z returns "Pacific Standard Time" while the correct
response is "PDT"; both the format and content of the
response are incorrect.
%j returns 001, while the correct day of the year is
somewhere in the 200's

Operating environment is Windows XP Pro, running
elogd as a command line utility.
