No error shown if directory is e.g. not mapped

Testing the problem with the listctrl I noticed that if
e.g. the local directory is not available (in my case
the network connection was not up) I did not get an error.
When I pressed "Next" it tried to find out what to
synchronize but did not find anything.
I think a warning error should be given if either the
remote or local directory (at least top level) are not
available.

If i must synchronize 2 directories:
- /local/dir1
- /remote/dir1
How can I make the difference between:
1) /remote/dir1: a network filesystem that is not mounted.
2) /remote/dir1: a "standard" filesystem that is empty.
