I have just built ChessX 1.5.6 on Debian 11 with qmake and make, as per the instruction in INSTALL, with all default settings. However, the chessx binary ended up in the release subdir, not bin, as stated in INSTALL: ‘If the compilation is successful you should be able to run ChessX
executable in bin subdirectory.’
So maybe because of this—or maybe due to other reasons—when I ran checkinstall to make a neat DEB package, it did not copy the chessx binary into the DEB package. See the screenshot for all the files packaged by checkinstall 1.6.3. As you can see, it is mostly documentation files.
Maybe this can be resolved by making the necessary changes to the metadata—but I do not know what kind of changes.
