allow old-style SUN RPC calls to be used

Currently, bootd uses the new SUN RPC, which are not available on every system
eg. FreeBSD 3.3 does not have them, so it is not possible to compile bootd there.

--quiet does not work

so far only the check for gcc seems to be implemented, and it does not work...

checking for headers does not work

always returns false, even if the type is available (should include header files)
either specify header files to include, or automatically include all header files tested for so far.
