pyfolio is a Python library for performance and risk analysis of financial portfolios developed by Quantopian Inc. It works well with the Zipline open source backtesting library. At the core of pyfolio is a so-called tear sheet that consists of various individual plots that provide a comprehensive image of the performance of a trading algorithm. Here's an example of a simple tear sheet analyzing a strategy. Quantopian also offers a fully managed service for professionals that includes Zipline, Alphalens, Pyfolio, FactSet data, and more.

pystats is a comprehensive Python module implementing algorithms for statistics and information theory, including probability distributions, descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, regression, and inference.

pyclashie is a software developed in python to show graphic view of code dependencies in, virtually, any programming language. The idea is to analize directories of source code, and search for class hierarchy and dependencies, writing them to .dot files.

This is a neat little tool to visualize binary data in a graphical form. It's really interesting to look at different types of files.

ngram is a module to compute the similarity between two strings. It is different to python's "difflib.SequenceMatcher" in that it cares more about the size of both strings. ngram is an port and extension of the perl module called "String::Trigram

PyVisi is the Python visualisation interface: a generic Python-based interface to many different scientific visualisation packages. PyVisi is intended for use in both standard and high-performance computing environments, and with the escript package.

A framework to support the developpement of trace based applications

sarface is a user-interface to the sysstat/sar database which inputs data from sar and plots to a live X11 graph via gnuplot. It mimics the cmd-line options from sar but can cross-plot any two or more stats and apply simple mathematical functions them.

Scipion is an image processing framework to obtain 3D models of macromolecular complexes using Electron Microscopy (3DEM). It integrates several software packages and presents an unified interface for both biologists and developers. Scipion allows to execute workflows combining different software tools, while taking care of formats and conversions. Additionally, all steps are tracked and can be reproduced later on. Xmipp is a well-known package in the EM image processing. It is integrated into Scipion and contains the algorithms in the core libraries and command line programs.

This project aims to be a easy-to-use toolkit of algorithms and utilities for semantic data mining. So far all algorithms are implemented as web services and we provide widgets for their use in the Orange4WS data mining platform.

The program is multi-grid (finite differences or finite elements), multi-algebra (plug-in analysis kernels), multi-model (simple standardized interface). The program supports reduced-order data assimilation methods, as well as Ensemble assimilation approaches such as the Ensemble Kalman Filter. Recent additions include extensions towards simultaneous assimilation and downscaling (AMICO project), and a toolbox for ensemble assessment (SCRUM project).

A simple tool, created in a French project "CoMeRe", for exporting data from all Wikimedia fundation projects, include Wikipedia. To use this, you need prepare two things: Target dump of Wiki Target page name Then, configure the tool with dump path and input the page name, finally just let's it run, you will get the target page. Duration is dependent on size of the dump, and the number of pages. Take care for using option "talk, other talk...", this is now only for french corpora.

Several python libraries implement discrete wavelet transforms. However, none of them, or at least none that I know, is aimed at scientific use. This library aims at filling this gap, in particular considering discrete wavelet transform as described by Percival and Walden. This module started as translation of the wmtsa Matlab toolbox (http://www.atmos.washington.edu/~wmtsa/), so most naming conventions and most of the code structure follows their choices. The code uses a mix of python and cython for improved performance. The code reflects my needs and preferences, but contributions from others are welcome. The code has to some extent been tested, but bugs are to be expected.
