Open Source Python Data Management Systems

FreeImage is a library project for developers who would like to support popular graphics image formats (PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP and others). Some highlights are: extremely simple in use, not limited to the local PC (unique FreeImageIO) and Plugin driven!

PLplot is a cross-platform, scientific graphics plotting library that supports math symbols and human languages (via UTF-8 user input strings); plot capabilities for multiple non-interactive plot file formats and in multiple interactive environments; and bindings for multiple computer languages.

RPy is a very simple, yet robust, Python interface to the R Programming Language. It can manage all kinds of R objects and can execute arbitrary R functions (including the graphic functions).

Cca-forum unifies the Common Component Architecture tools and tutorial. It includes the CCA specifications, the Ccaffeine framework for HPC, and related tools. These support multilanguage scientific and parallel computing.

The OpenCMISS-Zinc Library (opencmiss.org/zinc), or Zinc, is a software library for building interactive graphical modelling and visualisation applications. Models are represented in Zinc as mathematical fields defined over domains, including finite elements with support for high-order basis functions, complex parameter mappings and time variation, and image-based fields. Further fields can be defined by mathematical expressions and algorithms on existing fields, including image processing filters. Zinc model data structures are dynamic, supporting interactive applications which programmatically create, destroy and modify parts of models.

AquaTerm is a Mac OS X grahics renderer. It allows command line applications written in ObjC, C, FORTRAN, Lisp, Perl or Python to display vector graphics, text and images using a simple API. Adapters for gnuplot, PGPLOT, and PLplot exists as well.

FLAG was designed to simplify the process of log file analysis and forensic investigations. FLAG facilitates efficient analysis of large quantities of data within an interactive environment. PyFlag is the reimplementation of FLAG in Python.

The Collaborative Computational Project for NMR (CCPN) provides tools and knowledge to maximise the impact of the biological NMR studies. The CCPN software facilitates data analysis and software integration. The project actively promotes the exchange of knowledge and provides training and best practices for the NMR community. CCPN also has a leading role in the development of a NMR data-sharing standard and coordination of NMR instrumentation proposals for RCUK and BIS. The 28 partners of CCPN jointly cover all aspects of biomolecular NMR and together they promote excellence in science in their respective fields.

Computer Controlled Optical Microscopy is a package to enable camera equipped microscopes to generate multi-modal time-lapse image sequences of 3D volumes. This is achieved by periodically changing optical settings, xyz positions and acquiring images.

DiaCanvas is a library for drawing diagrams. It is completely Model/View/Controller based and has a Visio (DIA) look. The package also contains a Python wrapper for the library.

A 3D data visualization tool, specializing in the display of robotically collected point, range, and volumetric data. Provides a very flexible framework for different file formats and visualization parameters.

Fandango, formerly and internally know as elcad. It is a python scripted 3d CAD application; the core is programmed on C++, and interface functions are exported to python to be used as building blocks for new commands.

An object-oriented partial differential equation (PDE) solver, written in Python, based on a standard finite volume approach and includes interface tracking algorithms. *WARNING* The project is no longer using Sourceforge to maintain its repository.

File-Spector is a small, fast and easy to use binary file analyzer and Inspector. It allows the users to format a complete binary file structure and then use it to read any binary file that matches the specified format.

Geomatrix, collection of C/C++ libraries to be used for symbolic description of n-dimensional geometric models. Operates internally with a representation that constructs complex objects based on primitives, allowing loss-less modifcation of models.

Python language bindings for the GtkExtra widget set. GtkExtra is a useful set of widgets for the GIMP Toolkit, aka GTK+. It provides a spreadsheet-like matrix widget and widgets for 2-D and 3-D graphing.

MBDyn_sim_suite is a collection of free pre&post-processing tools and simulation models for the open-source multi-body analysis software MBDyn forming a general purpose simulation environment for structural dynamics with an emphasis on wind turbines.
